Story Time at the Symphony


What do a Baby Grand piano, a big green dragon named Custard and an animal carnival all have in common? Besides all weighing over 200 pounds, they each bring delight to your youngsters at orchestra concerts! Story Time at the Symphony is a family show that not only entertains kids of all ages, but also introduces the orchestra’s individual sections in stunning and educational showcases! Featuring music from Brad Ross that has been performed by The National Symphony, Philadelphia Orchestra, San Diego Symphony and many more, these musically infused stories are sure to please!


BRAD ROSS is an award-winning composer who writes music for musical theater, symphony orchestras and vocalists.  He's a winner of the prestigious Richard Rodgers Award and his work, A Family for Baby Grand,  has been performed by over 15 symphony orchestras nationwide including: The National Symphony at The Kennedy Center; The Philadelphia Orchestra; and The Jacksonville Philharmonic.  The piece was recorded by The Rochester Philharmonic.

His new musical setting of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas was premiered by The Rochester Philharmonic and the Swingin' Pops version of ’Twas the Night... was debuted by The West Michigan Symphony.  His musical, Little by Little, was produced Off-Broadway. 

Published by Theodore Presser, Warner Bros., Shawnee Press, Coronet Press, and Running Press Book Publishers, Brad is a winner of a Richard Rodgers Development Grant from The American and Institute of Arts and Letters.  A graduate of Cornell and New York University, Brad's additional music has been also recorded on Varese Sarabande Records, published by Alfred Music and Samuel French

RENE RUIZ is an accomplished voice actor, announcer and audiobook narrator. He has recorded voice spots and announcements for the Walt Disney World Co., Universal Studios Orlando and live productions in Las Vegas. He has narrated several audiobook titles for Random House and including "Succeeding When You're Supposed to Fail", "Makers" and "The Launch Pad".  He is also the English voice for the Random House language education series "Living Language".  Rene is also an award-winning director and singer.  He conceived and directed the Off-Broadway a cappella concept show "Toxic Audio" which explored the boundaries of the human voice and it won the Drama Desk Award for "Unique Theatrical Experience". He still works and coaches a cappella groups around the country, encouraging students to find new ways to express themselves using their voices.
